This taxi has a seven-inch TV screen installed where the rearview mirror should be - looking like it's there more for the driver than for the passenger.

STOMPer Lawrence Tan, who spotted it on the road, wondered if it would be too distracting for the driver."LTA approved?" he asked in an email to STOMP on Friday (27 July).

STOMP contacted ComfortDelGro and it replied in an email on Saturday (28 July) that the driver has been asked to remove the TV screen because it was not supposed to be installed there.

"Our cabbies are allowed to install TV screens in their taxis so long as they meet LTA's regulation," it said.

"Some cabbies do take the initiative to install such a feature in their cabs as a form of value-add service to their passengers.

"However, in this instance, the TV screen is not installed in a position that meets regulation and we have since had it removed," it said.

"We wish to thank the member of the public for alerting us on this matter."
