Taxi driver kiiled while helping passenger unloading luggage - 20130927
德士司机下车帮忙搬行李，惨遭迷你巴士撞飞10几米，抢救14小时后伤重身亡，而小巴司机竟然撞后逃！
大士一带的卡尔圈(Gul Circle)工业区昨早11时许发生一起致命车祸，一名德士司机，把一名女乘客载到卡尔圈一间工厂后，好心下车帮忙搬行李。
讵料行李没搬完，一辆迷你巴士竟从德士尾部直撞过来。
女乘客倒地昏迷
德士司机骤不及防，整个人被撞得双脚离地，抛飞到十几米远的马路上，他的头部遭受重创，当场陷入昏迷。女乘客过后也倒地昏迷。
令人发指的，迷你巴士肇祸后没有停下，司机反而猛踩油门绝尘而去，完全不顾德士司机和女乘客的生死。
被撞的德士司机是57岁的欧荣福，生前住后港5道第305座组屋。
他被送进国大医院急救，因为伤势过重，抢救14小时后，于今天凌晨1时许宣告不治。
死者未婚，在家排行老大，有4个弟弟。五弟欧荣标（房屋经纪）今早向本报绘述了事发经过。
“我事后听说，女乘客要去的工厂平时大门敞开，车子可以直接开进去，可是案发时，工厂大门却没开，大哥只好把德士停在门口让搭客下车，并绕到德士车后帮忙搬行李。”
死者被撞后脑部出血，不醒人事直到伤重去世。
死者的遗体将停柩后港住家楼下，星期一下午1点半出殡。
事发地点附近的好几间工厂都装有闭路电视，相信有拍到事发经过。
警方受询时，已证实在调查这起“撞后逃”车祸。
涉案司机被捕
警方证实，涉案司机事后被捕！
据本报了解，死者下车搬行李时，来自中国的女乘客（37岁）就站在不远处，因此目睹死者被撞的一幕。
女乘客事后也不省人事，由于她没有明显外伤，在场者相信很可能被吓昏。女乘客事后也被送院。
本报今早走访车祸现场时，一间工厂门口地上留下的粉笔记号，相信就是被撞德士所在之处。
据记者现场所见，德士停在工厂铁栅前，位置虽然跟马路平行，但距离马路有一段距离，完全不会妨碍到交通。
除非死者站离德士较远，否则被路过车子撞上的机会不大。
按照现场情况推断，迷你巴士很可能严重偏离马路，才有可能撞上德士。
附近一名保安（62岁）说，他听闻撞击声响，大约2分钟后外出查看时，只看到两人倒在地上，现场只有一辆德士。
另一方面，死者弟弟欧荣标告诉本报，警方案发后展开调查，逮捕一名涉案司机。
买榴梿敬老母
死者生前孝顺，知道母亲爱吃榴梿，不惜用上半天收入，买名种榴梿让母亲一解榴梿瘾！
死者五弟欧荣标告诉本报，死者开车20多年，不曾出过大意外，他还是出了名的孝子，只要一有空就去黄埔探望母亲，而且每天一定打电话问候母亲。
“大哥知道母亲爱吃榴梿，所以每到榴梿季节，就会经常买榴梿孝敬母亲，他还特地去买名种榴梿给母亲吃，即使一次花掉百多元（半天收入）也在所不惜。”
由于母亲年纪大，又患忧郁症，死者不时会嘱咐弟弟和弟媳，要好好看顾母亲，自己有空时还会到黄埔陪母亲过夜。
欧荣标说，母亲接到大儿子去世的消息后老泪纵横，伤心不已。
人缘好 朋友多
死者性格文静，生前爱玩毕克球(Pickle-ball)和骑电单车。
死者五弟欧荣标说，大哥的性格文静，平时话不多，但人缘佳，朋友不少。
数年前，死者在朋友的影响下开始学打毕克球，球艺据知很不错。
在打球之余，死者就只爱玩电单车。
据知，死者不开德士的时候，喜欢驾驶电单车到处走。

Speeding trailer XB7325Y at West Coast Highway
Traffic police only hide on overhead bridges to catch speeding cars ... speeding heavy vehicles at West Coast Highway were ignored. My speed was 70kmh. The trailer overtook me and stay ahead.

Motorised bicycles on the road
We wish to inform you that the Land Transport Authority (LTA) regulates vehicles that are used on public roads. We only allow low-Power Assist Bicycles (PABs) that meet the following technical requirements.
a) Construction of the PAB is similar to that of a conventional bicycle (e.g. the PAB should not have a horizontal platform in the mid-section for use as a footrest);
b) The PAB is powered by an electric source;
c) The maximum power output of the electric motor does not exceed 200 watts;
d) The motor power of the PAB cuts in only when the rider starts to pedal (eg. it should not be equipped with a throttle to by-pass the power-assisted function); and
e) The motor power of the PAB cuts off when it reaches 25 km/h or when the rider stops pedalling.
We wish to add that PABs are not allowed on pedestrian walkways, HDB void decks and public parks. This is in accordance to the regulations laid down by government agencies such as Singapore Police Force, Housing Development Board and National Parks Board. Any person who intends to use PABs in the mentioned places other than public roads (i.e. public parks, recreational or private compounds, etc) is required to obtain permission from the agencies/owners governing such places.
The rider of a bicycle shall obey the Road Traffic (Bicycles) Rules. The bicycle shall be ridden close to the left hand edge of the roadway and in such a manner as not to obstruct vehicles moving at a faster speed. Enforcement officers will take action against non-compliance with requirements.
For safety reasons, Traffic Police requires all riders and pillion riders of PABs to be at least 16 years old and they must wear a bicycle helmet when riding a PAB.

Taxi location surcharge - F1 - 2013-09-20 to 2013-09-22

The Singapore Grand Prix Formula 1 (F1) race will be held from 20 – 22 Sep 2013.
During the race days, commuters taking taxis from F1 designated taxi stands will pay a location surcharge of $5.00 on top of the prevailing taxi metered fare and other applicable surcharges.
Details of the surcharge applicable are as below:

Please note that there will be road closure around the F1 circuit vicinity starting from 18 Sep 2013 till the race days. Taxis travelling to the above locations have to follow designated routes in order to reach there. Information on the directions can be found in the F1 brochure and taxi advisory leaflets which will be made available at our CDGE / STK workshops, CDGE Diesel Kiosks and Admin Centres.
